Investor Relations Highlights IntroductionCollegial engagement across the diverse corporate functional areas is critical for enterprise leaders to better understand, monitor, advance and exert leadership on contemporary ESG/Sustainability and related Corporate Responsibility (CR) issues. (ESG: environmental, social issue and corporate governance key performance indicators.) IR professionals need to be part of and play a key role in this internal engagement to provide the critical communications gateway through which to effectively facilitate reciprocal communication of their companies’ achievements and investors’ interests. On the importance of ESG/Sustainability: Publicly-listed company ESG/Sustainability and CR communications must also carefully navigate the additional realm of regulatory disclosure requirements which are best monitored collaboratively by investor relations and legal counsel. In Investor Relations Highlights, Accountability-Central provides professionals with IR responsibility access to a broad range of issues, topics and practical considerations for IR’s role in the evolutionary communications surrounding ESG/Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility through News & Updates, Research & Insights, and Commentary & Opinion. Think of Investor Relations in two ways, as describing: (1) the dynamic relationship between corporate enterprise and shareholders, bondholders, financial analysts and other key stakeholders; and (2) the formal function within a corporation -- Investor Relations -- usually headed by an IR Officer (the IRO). Challenges posed by investors’ increasing embrace and promotion of the importance of ESG / Sustainability factors in investment decisions are creating new demands on IROs and changing many of the dynamics of “investor relations” or the relationship of company and investor. Accountability-Central and the Governance and Accountability Institute’s sister platform – INSIGHTS-edge – are designed to help corporate leaders navigate these challenges and changes in the “New Normal” of the capital markets.
